Planned Traffic Impacts on Mille Roches Island

Long Sault Parkway & Moulinette Island Causeway Street Intersection

Crews are currently working on the east end of the Long Sault Parkway on Mille Roches Island, progressing from east to west.  

A temporary single‑lane traffic reduction will be in place from the end of May into August 2026, on Mille Roches Island on the Long Sault Parkway, near Mille Roches Beach & Day Use Area (15890 Long Sault Parkway, Long Sault, Ontario K0C 1P0) to support underground construction work.

Campers at Woodlands and McLaren campgrounds, and Woodlands Beach & Day Use Area users, are advised to use the west (Ingleside) entrance of the Long Sault Parkway to access these locations.  

On May 28 and/or May 29, 2026, traffic impacts are anticipated at the intersection of the Long Sault Parkway and Moulinette Island Causeway.

During this time:

• Traffic will be maintained using flagging operations and traffic control personnel
• A temporary access route will be in place to help maintain traffic flow
• Short delays are expected between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

SLPC and its contractors will make every effort to minimize disruptions and keep traffic moving safely.

Safety Reminders

For your safety and the safety of construction crews:

• Please keep well back from active work areas
• Respect all barricades, fencing, signage, and posted notices
• Give heavy equipment operators a wide berth at all times
• Keep dogs on a leash, especially near construction areas
• Be mindful of vehicles slowing or stopping in construction zones along the parkway

Background

The St. Lawrence Parks Commission is investing in important infrastructure improvements along the Long Sault Parkway. Green Infrastructure Partners (GIP) have been contracted to complete this work.

Construction has begun on a multi-phase project to install new water and sewer services along the Long Sault Parkway. Work on the east (Long Sault) end, including Mille Roches and Snetsinger Islands, is scheduled to take place from April to November 2026, with work on the west (Ingleside) end continuing into 2027.

Mille Roches Campground & Beach Unavailable for 2026 During Major Improvements

Mille Roches Campground and Mille Roches Beach & Day Use Area will be unavailable during the 2026 season, while undergoing major infrastructure improvements to strengthen guest amenities and modernize essential services.

These investments will deliver new, accessible gender-neutral washrooms and a new, modern trailer dump station at the campground, a new canteen with washrooms, changerooms, outdoor rinse showers and a licensed patio at the day-use area, and improved water and wastewater systems. These upgrades will enhance guest comfort, safety and accessibility in future seasons.

The Long Sault Parkway will remain open throughout construction. Guests may see construction activity and short periods of single‑lane traffic near work areas.

We appreciate your patience and encourage guests to explore other Parks of the St. Lawrence campgrounds and day-use locations during this time. There are seven alternative Parks of the St. Lawrence Campground with similar amenities within a 30-minute drive of Mille Roches campground.
