Glengarry Park is named for Glengarry County, an area originally settled by the Scottish who sought refuge here. They came from the colony of New York during the American Revolution and, in 1786 and 1788, direct from the Highlands where they had lost their old homes to the intruding sheep during the Highland Clearances.
